Kissed By A Rose On The Grave

I heard a song tonight that was written for a bestfriend/girlfriend. It was beautiful and everything that a girl could want her bestfriend/boyfriend to write about her. I've been lucky enough to have a song written about me, too...one that remembers the past and very creatively connects it with the present (courtesy of Mr. Evan Terlesky). I don't think that there are many more meaningful things than having someone take the time to write a song about you and for you to truly see through their eyes how they see you. Little things that you thought only you remembered are brought up and brought back for you both to connect with and remember together. The song that he wrote about me was a love song, of sorts, but more of a song that loves our friendship, and our past and what we have created together over the years; it still brings me to tears whenever I listen to it...especially since I never see Evan anymore and rarely talk to him.
What girl wouldn't want a song written about her? I don't think I've ever met a girl who wouldn't. The songs are filled with inside jokes, with small yet meaningful tokens of gratitude, with special moments only the two of you posess and with so much love that it's breathtaking. Ok, maybe I'm a hopeless romantic, but tokens of love, no matter if they are hugs, smiles, songs, glances, surprises, gestures or flowers mean the world to me. Everyone loves to know that they are loved and appreciated and telling someone that you love them and knowing that both you and they mean it all the time is the best feeling I can imagine.
I don't know what brought on this slightly mushy blog tonight. It could have been the "surprise" note that I got on my car today after rehearsal, the song that I heard, or the rose for no reason. Infact, it was all of the above.

Leave notes that say "I love you" on your BFFF's car.
Write a song (or letter or poem) to the one that you love.
And don't be afraid to give your friend a flower.
You never know when you just might make someone's day.
Just in case you were curious.
